Nice one. If not abused, it will easily outlast the car.

My M5P Renault box is noisy and was looking for the Renault code. Ive drilled it down to a JC5227.
Anyone able to confirm this?

I think that may be correct, but there should be an aluminium label with the number on it or the number may be etched on to a flat part of the casing, not easy to find when it gets mucky.
I couldn't find the M5P for my 1.8 when i needed to replace mine, so ended up fitting an M3P from a 1.6, which fits directly with no modifications & uses same clutch plate, driveshafts, etc. The only noticable difference is the engine revs are slightly higher at high/cruising speed due to different ratios . |

I've just had a quick look at the number on my original M5P box from a 1.8.
JC5 227 does appear to be correct... If you want to look at the numbers on your gearbox, then it may be on the bottom of the casing under the plastic guard. This is where mine is ! Here's what to expect.. see pics Last edited by magnuz; Jul 24th, 2020 at 17:19. |
