No one has mentioned the ugly cheap plastic box you gave to stick to your doors in order to get the pretty lights on the ground.

Trust me I looked everywhere to try and concealed these units but it's not possible on my car, the plastic casing won't do any long-term damage to the door trim other than leave some of the sticky pad behind - which you can remove with IPA.

You can't see the unit within the car as they hide at the side of the seat.

I'm prepared to accept this in exchange for "looking like a chief" when I open the door in the dark, especially in the snow at night time...how cool would that be

I had replacement logo ones on previous cars, which I liked, and as Welton said, it’s a trade off.

I must say, though, that when I put a pic of my Lexus ones on the Lexus forum, there were more adverse comments than complimentary ones, some even bordering on ‘Chavvy’.

Each to his own, I liked them!

I like them... They really look the part, in my opinion.

Am I correct in thinking that these come on automatically when you open the door? So there's no hard wiring as such, just the battery does the job?

That's correct Kev,

I like them too, if only they would make then inset to replace existing, I mean, you have to disconnect them a way else they will ruin the effect somewhat,

If you already have ‘ordinary’ puddle lights, odds on you can get plug and play replacements, that’s what I had on my previous cars, a Mercedes and a Lexus. I’m sure I found some on eBay while I was looking for these (before I asked for the link). These are for cars without OE puddle lights.

I got a set of these around 18 months ago. In the winter they go through 3xAAA batteries quite quickly - about 6 weeks if it gets really cold.
One of my projects is to convert them to work with 12v car feed and put them in the door mirror casing to project down like they do in a Mustang.
