Manifold Pressure Sensor
At some point during my car's restoration (1971 1800E B20E) the MPS went missing.
I bought an Ebay one listed as correct for my car but I now discover this is for a VW - if you're out there thanks pal. Anybody know if mine will run with this thing fitted? Should have Volvo part 241725 - Bosch Part 0280 100 010, this one is Bosch 0280 100 001 Or alternatively closest I can find out there at the moment is 0280 100 015 from a 1972 1800E B20E. But that's yet more expense. Thanks. David. |

David;
I'm not intimately familiar enough with the D-Jet components to know by PNs if that MAP sensor is suited to the Volvo application, BUT there is a highly experienced specialist (I believe in Germany, but on-line in English) who goes by the name of Dr. Djet or some such...I don't have his info at hand, but it should take Gargle only a fraction of a second to find. ...and BTW...IF you apply suction on the Vacuum port of that MAP Sensor, and you can hold a vacuum, it means that internal (Bronze or Brass?) membrane is not compromised (as this is the typical fatigue failure mode of these)...that's good! If you find out from Dr.Djet that it is not suitable for the Volvo application, I'm sure you can move it along... Good Hunting |

If you look at the Bosch classic site there are several other options listed
http://www.bosch-classic.com/media/b...uckfuehler.pdf ######## As to whether the sensor you already have works or not - Iīd just try it and see. Looking through the information in the PDF linked above some of the other numbers have been used with different sized engines so you might find that it is OK - good enough - do a trip etc You could also check the sensor in accordance with the (Bosch or Volvo) service information and see if it operates within the limits prescribed

Dr Djet's MAP sensor page appears to be here:
http://oldtimer.tips/en/d-jetronic/55-mapsensor According to that, part number ....001 is an early type without full-load sensing. The Volvo version of the system uses a MAP sensor that does have full-load sensing. While it is probably possible to get it to run with that sensor, it will never be right. ....015 differs from ....010 only in adjustment, not in form. So it is possible to "convert" one to the other simply by re-adjusting it. This is possible, but not straightforward. A good reference for doing it is here: http://members.rennlist.com/pbanders...ure_sensor.htm Though I'd just try it, see if it ran OK and see if the plugs were a decent colour, before going to all that trouble, because I'd guess it would not be far out. |
