Question Upgrade Audio head unit

Hi, Can anyone advise. I have a 61 V60 D3 RDesign with only analogue audio system (no DAB or USB function)

Can the system (head unit maybe) be upgraded to later model equipment with DAB etc and if so, can the original screen accommodate the new features.

Thanks

Funny you should mention this - I recently updated mine, as unfortunately the only option missing was DAB on my car!

I went for http://www.dension.com/automotive/pr...solutions/dabu

It mounts as a USB drive and you select the radio station just as if it was a track.

I'll try to put some pictures up at some point, but here's some videos of othe peoples. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jYY2HBTl5SE and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smEbDgQJQq8

You get a slight delay changing over stations but works fine with the radio and steering controls etc.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I explored your link and sadly they have no integrated solution for me other than using a plug / play system using AUX feature.

That if you have the high perf radio

I'm surprised you don't have a USB socket. Are you sure you don't have the USB function ? I thought this was standard. The socket for the USB is in the bottom of the centre console, if you're looking for it.

In 2011 many Volvos only had the 3.5mm jack, especially standard audio R-Design models.

You also need option code 683, which is "DAB preparation". It was around £80 at the time and added wiring which went to the boot (where you could then fit the DAB module). https://www.volvopartswebstore.com/p.../31264302.html

Sadly you can't retro-fit it. The option was removed from 2013 (meaning you had only one choice to buy DAB).

A few years back there was an option to have DAB retro fitted by Volvo which used a Pure Highway unit, but I believe they don't offer this package now. Details here: https://www.pure.com/uk/blog/septemb...volvo-and-pure

You can check the spec at 2011 here; https://assets.volvocars.com/uk/~/me...t.pdf?la=en-gb (notice the USB option missing on R-Design and DAB preperation in the options list)
