Default v70 difficult starting

my 99 v70 some/most times does not want to start,

it will turn over rapidly,but fail to fire,after about 5 attempts it springs into life, some times it fire up 1st time....grr

this is not consistant, it can be cold,warm, hot,

once its running ,it runs faultlessly, so im assuming the fuel pump is ok,

any other suggestions,relays...?

many thanks guy would like to sort this b4 i wear the starter motor out.....lol

First you will need to accertain which type of ignition system you have....
Does your car have HT leads and a distributor cap...
Is the engine warning light illuminated

thnax for the swift reply,
the car has coil packs,
no engine management light on,
it runs really well when started, no cutting out or rough running,

Initial thoughts from me would be towards the immobiliser system and i am not sure if a fault here will effect the engine warning light....Perhaps someone else will be able to advise here...
In the meantime i have moved the thread to the 99 onwards forum...

right thanx for moving this...

im not using the remote to lock and unlock as the batt is flat,maybe i should
when i put the key in the ignition, sometimes the led on the dash flashes

I'd suggest you go to the 850 forum and search for 'antenna' this should reveal some info on the antenna ring round the ignition key barrel and how to access it.

I expect your problem is due to poor connection at the antenna ring and / or poor connections at the starter or solenoid.
