Default Breaking 855 T5R testing water

Hello all.

I know these testing the water threads are painful and annoying for everyone but I feel I must do it.

I have a 1996 855 T5R In black Which I am CONSIDERING breaking. It needs a gear box as the auto box that's in there no longer wishes to play ball. To be completely honest I bought the car this way from a friend of a friend with the intention of doing it up, selling and making a tidy little prophet. However I am not sure there is much of a prophet in it and anyone who does a little reading on these could well be put of buying it due to the millage and related auto-box failure which seems common on these past a certain year.

I would let it go whole but I would be looking for £800 which I don't think is realistic but that's what it owes me so far.

It has a full service history with Volvo and then a specialist. The guy I bought it from has spent a few £££ on it and owned it a fair time as well.

So what I want to know unless anybody does wana entertain the whole thing is weather anyone would be prepared to pay the prices for the things listed below. I appreciate you humoring me. let me know what you think.

It has new back lights both half's. £50ono

Black alcantara electric interior Passenger seat 1 function is inoperative (recline) but strangely the drivers seat works a treat. Including door cards £200 ono

Front bumper has a small crack in it. £150 ono

Wheels are clean four have good quality tyres with plenty of grip. There are 6 wheels I believe. £500 ono

Engine is sweet approx 175,000, Truly It runs beautifully and when the gear box does occasionally engage, it goes like a rocket ship. No smoke, no top end rattle, with ancillaries £250ono

One of the drive shafts is brand new. Maybe covered 500 miles tops. £50

All the gadgetry seems to work.

Full factory tinted glass. £100ono

Hi
What is the mileage and what exactly is wrong with the box.
R's are a little overated IMO and £800 is more than i would consider for a decent T5

If you read my post more carefully you will see that I to think it's a lot to ask. If you read the post more carefully then you will get answers to all but one of your questions.

The Box does not engage. The fault was diagnosed using Volvo gear as a secondary clutch failure, thats what the previous owner told me. After speaking with my Volvo specialist (kings of westbury where the proprietor has owned a 850 R for 10 years) He told me that auto box failure is common after 150K and that the parts are not really available neither is it economically viable to repair these box's.

I think the best fix would be a manual conversion personally.
