Cam Locking Tool Question - orientation of diagonal notches
Hi gang,
Headed over to a friend of mine's garage tomorrow am as he has been unable to get the timing right on his '06 V70R which has dual VVT's. I've read and re-read the instructions about 20 times and I'm quite confident that I get the core principles re: making sure that each VVT remains in its CW locked position once belt is on AND once it's tensioned. The only bit I need a clarification on is regarding the orientation of the tool on the back of the cams. On his model, there are two notches on each cam AND one additional diagonal notch scribed on each cam. I THINK I came across some literature that suggested these should be opposite each other (one upwards and one downwards) - is this correct? Does it matter which one is up and which one is down or will the tool only go on one way? Thank you for your any advice you have to offer!
