Default S60 Boot Lock Trim

This all started when my boot lock froze the other night. Not the seals but the actual lock. When it thawed out, I noticed that there was a small flap on a hinge with a spring that had broken. Pictures attached. I have tried gluing the broken hinge back on the flap with specialised plastic glue, but it is just not strong enough.
Presumably, there is a reason this part is there, but can I just leave it removed rather than trying to source a new one? It's part number is Volvo 31305446.

I think it's just there to look nice and stop bits falling in to the boot latch. I'd just leave it missing tbh, nobody will ever notice.

I don't think it's even spring loaded on my V60, it's just a couple of bendy pieces of plastic.

Thank you. This is what I thought. Me being me, I would like it complete, but I am not going to stress too much.
