Default D5 running bad / misfire

Hello,

I'm Maarten, from Germany.
I've V50 D5 with 355.000km, second owner.

Untill now the car has been running fine, but for the last 10.000km the engine is running (partly) bad. Let me try to describe the issue with more detail.

when idling, the RPM is not stable, and you feel the whole car shaking. Driving without the need of much power is the same, the whole car is shaking.

The intersting thing is, when you perform via VIDA, the test RPM per Cylinder, the engine runs fine, as did it came out of the factory yesterday. As soon as the test finishes, the engine starts running bad again.

what has been changed so far:
Fuel filter (Volvo)
Air filter (volvo)
LMM (Bosch)
Lambda (Bosch)
Fuel pressure sensor (Bosch)
Fuel presure regulator (bosch)
Fuel presure valve (bosch)

Fuel presure equels the desired fuel presure.
engine runs fine under load and above 2700rpm.
Firering up the car, the first few seconds it runs fine. Sometimes there is a 100km 'window' it runs fine under any condition.
Car is ran with Shell Vpower diesel.

Volvo wants to change the injector connectors and reload the software on the car. 2 general shops, said sorry no clue.

I am hoping one of you recognises these syimpthoms, or experianced the same. As i don't see logic in the above. Due to the perfect running while performing the test in VIDA, i suspect something electrical, and not the injectors.

Looking forward to your responses

Kind regards,

Maarten

Should nobody reply there is a separate V50 section (04-12).

sounds like a variation on the better results when on test syndrome...

Look at the EGR.

I just sorted out a 1.6 that had numerous seemingly unrelated faults, which seemed to get worse when the faults were cleared... changing the EGR actuator sorted it out.. so far so good...

unplug all the injectors and look at the connectors you can close them up a bit,
also get some one to test each one with a oscilloscope when the car is running ,
and do a injector leak back test (THE TEST KIT IS VERY CHEAP)to make or buy
run a egr test with vida or Delphi ds150e or other testers that test volvos

hi you said that Volvo wanted to change the connectors, if you unplug them you will see metal crimps in the housings, over time they can open up a bit, so with a small screw driver or a pick you can close them up so they make a good connection,

with a oscilloscope connected to the back of the injector connectors
with the car running you can watch the injector working, and if you connect a amp clamp
to the oscilloscope you will see if it is taking the correct current about 20amps if good the voltage is about 80v,
Dave
