My software (the car's, not me personally) was updated in Oct and it still misses the odd tick.
Doesn't bother me in the slightest though.

So glad I read this thread! I heard this on mine and thought something was wrong.
However this isnt so bad, my previous car could only play 1 sound ata time so if *anything* else made a noise the indicators were silent - that was really strange until you got used to it! |

My MY17 XC90 does this, always has done. Software 'assumed' to be updated at last service in June this year.

It would appear that some of the posts on this thread do not support your experience of this issue.

You must remember these columns attract the problems like a magnet, the thousands of the cars out there on the road in real life are what I get my experience from .. The correct way do deal with the problem is report it to the dealer who will look up their bulletins ( of which there are non on this subject ) then send a report back to technical who will come up with an answer or pass it on to the factory for one ....

My dealer said "that's a new one, no-one has ever reported this problem before", gave me a shrug and sent me on my way.
The reason why it irritates me is because the actual indicator flash is steady - surely the electronic signal going to that could also have gone to a relay to make the "tick" sound. I understand that because they wanted a software generated sound it needs processing power but it just seems like form over function to me. For me, it's not just the odd tick that it skips, it's every time I indicate, which is why it annoys me. Before I get attacked and told to get a life etc, I should point out that I love the rest of the car and this problem is not keeping me awake at night.

Yes it is very irritating to hear the uneven tick .. I seem to remember volvo do know about it and maybe they are waiting for a fix , but you need to report it again ..

As for hassling the dealer, really I am not that fussed about it. I have other things to worry about. But when someone comes on here and asks "does your car do this?" and the universal chorus they get in reply is "Yes!" then it would suggest that this really aint an isolated issue........

Mine has done it from new. Since had a software update, it still does it.
I do not regard it as a problem, just an "undocumented feature". It does not affect the functionality or the reliability of the car at all, so I am not bothered.

My XC90 does this too. It was a feature added when the software was updated to include the start-up checklist on the dash display when you start the car. My passengers often comment on it - but I'm with those that barely notice it and find in an amusing feature when others do notice. Cetainly not worth a 90 mile trip to the dealer...
