radio turned on but then the sound would go off, yet the display would still show, even change channel on the pre set. A couple of seconds later a slight pop and sound resumes.

Front 4c shocks would want doing now like mine did, rears seem to go on and on.
Headlights 'can' be changed to Halogen like mine has been, Depo make suitable pattern units.

misting on shocks from the last 2 mot advisories. didn't check myself.
Headlights would need changing cd / radio were inconsistently working which was noted on test drive. The outlay on these parts was a deciding factor of not to go through on the sale, plus the none sale of my old car. I wasn't in a position to lay out on road tax, cd / radio, straight away and have the headlights and shocks as a know future cost. Going by the replies I believe I did the right thing by not going through on the deal even though I lost a big deposit. my own fault for not being clued up on thing before viewing. certainly a lesson learned but a slight relief I didn't lumber myself with more costs, without having spare cash to right said issues. A 163bhp lower spec is to be sourced once my car is %100 sold |

Did you put down the deposit before you knew about the issues, or where the issues declared by the dealer before you placed the deposit. If it's the former, I would have thought that the deposit was refundable?

Was a private sale. Only the headlights and shocks came up on the mot history check, plus a couple of wear and tear times. Was told of these at the viewing. The radio didn't work all the time on the test drive.
My fault really for not researching the model in question. The reasoning for putting the question forward was to see if said failed / failing items were a cheap fix or a cheapish fix is known. It would seem my initial quick trawl through the interweb threw up the correct suspicions and all parts arnt a £50 fix. A foolish lesson learned me thinks. |
