Interior LED conversion.
Hi guys, I would like to do a LED light conversion to my XC90.
I had done this on my other car and it really was such a nice upgrade. I purchased a set off ebay for my xc90 and work well however when they are not on they still glow? I believe this to be a restance issue? Has any one else fitted led bulbs to thier xc90 will out this glow issue and where from? |

It's due to LEDs needing so little current/voltage to run them. You can get them with resistors fitted that soak the extra up or you can live with the eerie glow.
I like green ones!

I added 1/4W 4.75k resistors in parallel to fix the issue. No bulb out codes in VIDA either.

As I've stated above, just insert a 4.75k Ohm resistor in parallel with each bulb in the interior. If your order a bag of resistors from Amazon or a local electronics supplier it will cost a few $ to fix all of your interior lights.
For example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1o6WDvA8F0 You can in the video how they've just been wedged in between the contacts. The socket's clamping force is enough to hold it very securely as the leads of the resistor are so thin in diameter.

I converted my interior to LED after my factory warranty ran out - installed a combination of Phillips LED and eBay SMD 3x4 grid LED bulbs.
The "wedge a resistor in there method" has worked great - in fact, it secures the Phillips bulbs for the UEM map/front seat lights better than the bulbs alone.
