Haven't been there myself but I would try accessing the carpet from the backside as seen on Simon's handbrake cable replacement video:

You might need to remove the rear seat bolts but only loosen the fronts to tilt the seat rails and lift a bit of carpet, no need to disconnect any wires.
It's probably also stuck under the B pillar trim, VIDA instructions come handy as where the plastic clips into.

Update: Tried to attach a pic here via the phone, hope it works. This will give a better idea of where it slipped through. Thanks for all the help already and thanks in advance in anyone has any more thoughts, this is a good group.

Asked a friend to help me with the seat and he said look, you CAN actually just cut the carpet as it will just sit nicely back down again, and if you’re really concerned we can just use spray adhesive... so I took his point and reluctantly got a craft knife to cut as neat a flap as possible. I then realised there was a lot more play in the carpet than I thought, and after a desperate half an hour or near-misses, two fingertip touches, and industrial grade swearing... I got it out without having to cut a rug, so to speak. Over the moon. Thanks for all the advice anyway guys, I was all set to have a go at the seat itself but I can’t belige I got it. Thanks for taking the time to reply to my thread! :-)
