Default Towbar mounted bike racks - Thule vs Atera

Atera seem to come out well in tests and are highly rated on roofbox.co.uk (but to be expected as they are the sole UK importers).

Has anyone had both and, if so, would they like to hazard an opinion as to the merits of both brands?

I have an Atera, I've used it as a bike carrier, and, by removing the bike clamps, as the base for a motorhome back box.

I've also carried a kitchen unit on the bare base, but tied it so the roof bars on my V70 were taking some of the load.

The sliding feature is very useful, and has been admired by quite a few onlookers when I have used it.

No experience of a Thule carrier, but I'm sure anything they design will work well.

I've had both

Both are good, but Thule is a better design and better quality.
And costs more.

Thanks for the comments - useful. I've gone for the Thule Easyfold XT 3 which has a nice 16% discount at the moment. As SwissXC90 says, not cheap, but I'm also swayed by the wider availability if I want to get any spares/extras.

Just need a towbar and my new bike now!
