I think the most common problem with the 480 is leaking rear light clusters. The original seal doesn't work very well and so water gets in and collects in the boot. These days a lot of the cars will already have had the lights re-sealed, but it still needs to be checked.

The electrics are well known for being a bit temperamental, so check everything electrical works, especially the info centre (if fitted).

Electric windows fail when the cable in the winder snaps - easy to replace and spares aren't too expensive from scrapyards or eBay.

Rust is most likely to appear around the rear wheel arches, the bottoms of the doors and the top of the windscreen pillars.

I don't think there are any particular problems with the engine, gearbox or other mechanicals (others might know differently), as long as the car has been properly serviced and maintained.

There may be some problems particular to the turbo that I don't know about, but that's all I can think of for now.

Cheers, Ed
