By the way:
The high current for the main beam is not switched directly through the stalk, so it cannot be a stalk problem I have never, in 4 decades of working on cars and electronics, come across a relay that shorts out the switched line to ground. So highly unlikely to be a relay Extremely likely to be a chaffed wire in the loom somewhere.

Do you suggest chasing it from the fuse box towards the head units or chase it back the other way?
