Apologies for those of your I have bored with this by other means previously but thought I should keep the forum up to date

After north of 20 years of being a 1x240 owner person my Volvo count is now 2.

Recently taken ownership of grandad's red 240 which he’s had from new as unfortunately he is no longer able to drive. Car has been garaged from new, has 62k on the clock with mostly <3k oil changes. Not much rust to be found anywhere apart from the end of the sills perhaps but being red the paint has started to go pink, I gather this should be reversible without too much trouble though.

I’ll probably bore you with lots more posts as I work on the car to bring it back to 100%. Car is a b200f and drives a little different to my carbd 2.3, revs a little higher on mway so easier to cruise along but I gather it drinks a bit more fuel.

Will add some photos in due course.

The other 240 is still going strong and will continue to be #1 Volvo despite having more wear and miles under it's belt. Having been driven round in an infant seat in the back to begin with and growing up with the car there is no way I would go down to one Volvo.

Ramblings over and out for now.

.....and how about some pics? I’ve a couple of 240’s and they do look lovely parked next to each other....but obviously I need a few more more....I did manage to collect seven cars but then I was told I had a ‘problem’ according to wife type woman

Very good advice to a man considering buying a secondhand 240. Don't buy secondhand you are buying someone else's problems.

Correct reply. Yes dear. I should have listened to your first husband.

Here they are!

Sorry will have to read up on posting better photos in the post-photobucket era.

First photo is the pair together. As some of you will know the blue one started out as my mum's car and I bought it off her when I was 16 to be my first car. It's spent pretty much all of it's life in the outdoors so was good to be able to finally garage when I moved house last year. It was my wedding car last year also and thought it appropriate to bring my first born home from the hospital a few weeks ago having ridden around as an infant in the car myself.

Another photo of the newly acquired red Volvo. First jobs will be a new brake master cylinder and flexible hoses, changing the original plastic wheel trims for some chrome hubcaps and getting that pink-ish paint back to shiny red.

I like shiny hub caps / nave plates. Cushti.

But I did an alternative with my '92 SE. I have fitted Volvo Omega alloy wheels. Those can be bought for a sensible price, e.g. when they get offered in the 700/900 section of the forum.

Same style as the plastic wheel trims so in keeping with your car's design. But they are alloy wheels so "better" than plasctic trims, and 15" so they fit a good choice of good quality tyres.
