Default Oil loss from auto box

Today whilst refitting the drivers side wishbone ( fitted new bushes) I accidently pulled the drive shaft from the diff and started to loose fluid. It did stop when I put the shaft back in so im wondering if the auto box will be ok once I have refilled it ? I have had this happen in the past from the passenger side on a manual box when the shaft got pulled out too far so im wondering if the auto box has the same arrangement but on the oppisit side of the diff ?

Default Oil loss . . .

Exactly the same thing happened to me when I changed wishbones a while ago and the leak did stop as soon as the shaft was replaced. Subsequently having topped up the oil level, it didn't leak again and has been ok ever since. My guess is, providing the oil seal is not damaged when replacing the shaft, all will be well. Cheers Sarumboy.

It did stop when I pushed the driveshaft back in so hopefully it should be ok when I refill it. Mind I was due to change the oil soon as the car is up to 50k and I dont know when/if it was done last.

When you change the atf oil from your ZF4 autobox I advice you to add a bottle of Lubegard. It makes shifting smoother and prolonges the lifespan of the ZF4 box. I highly recommend it!
