breaking down driving me mad
Hi and HELP
got a V70 D5, 2006 with 60k miles on the clock, all well until 4 weeks ago, boosting it out the M6 Toll booths and car lost power, went to limp mode, Urgent Service Light on etc, didnt stop, just reduced power, after a few mins, re started and got back to the garage, they plugged and and diagnosed a faulty MAF sensor] which they replaced. All well for 6 weeks, giving it some decent revs last week, engine dash lights came on, Urgent Service etc car slowed to a halt and stopped completely, wouldn't start immediately, after various attempts, left it 10 mins it started on limp mode, drove about 6 miles and broke down again, same again, 10 min delay, got started about 6/7 miles on limp mode stopped again, mananged to get to the garage after 5 breakdowns ,they plugged it in came up with various fault codes etc, they replaced the fuel filter, it had £50 of diesel in tank at this point, tested it, broke down again, changed a sensor, broke down again, sent the injectors for test came back today, no fault found, removed part fuse box and check all terminals for arcing, no fault plugged in today and a list of the fault codes below, Fuel Cache Low 2520, 2530, 25C0,2590 and 25A0 plus faulty signal 24E0 and swirl actuator control 1830 can anyone make any sense of this???? , causing real hassle, its a great car and dont want to lose interest and confidence to run it, ps its a manual gear if thats makes any difference Last edited by johnyrosso; Apr 3rd, 2012 at 17:53. Hi, i'm new here too. My s60 D5 2006 did this to me, not so many times i may add. If i floored it over 3500rpm it would happen. My local mech plugged it in and did a generic diagnosis, it too showed a MAF fault along with 2 glow plugs. Cut a long story short, after looking on here at a few threads, my fault didn't seem relevant to MAF fault. It turned out to be the swirl valve actuator arm which is a common problem by snapping. i repaired mine and it seems to have cured it! If you lift off the engine cover and to the left of the engine block is a small stepper motor with a plastic arm on. Mine was snapped at the engine end. If you search for swirl valve, i'm sure a few threads will show up. Hope this helps.
