I can't remember the obstruction you're experiencing as it's been several years since doing mine but, if you take the weight off the engine from above, should then allow you to remove the right hand engine mount or, at least, remove the two screws going into the subframe which will then allow for some maneuverability...?

In answer to lowering the pan past the bracket, I’d have to say I think unfortunately you may have to remove the driveshaft, and all five (ish) parts of the bracket. I’d already taken it off, because I couldn’t see how I was going to access the oil pump bolts with it in the way. Even with it gone, I still couldn’t get the ruddy sump off, I had to reach inside and take the four bolts holding the oil pick-up tube off, take out one of the bolts holding the sorta torque strap thing on the gearbox, and then jack the engine up and move the sump around a number of different ways to finally get it out past the subframe. I’m dreading putting that bracket back on, because as I undid the bolts it kinda fell off in my face, and I can’t 100% remember how all the parts fitted. There may be some trial and error, and swearing……. |
