Question Advice needed! Active 4C Shock Leak?

Hi all,

long time lurker. To be honest, I am not even 1% mechanical, but newly enthusiastic about Volvos, bought an '08 XC70 D5 AWD SE LUX - 2 years ago, 70,000 miles, full volvo service history for £12,000. (soon to buy a V40 CC also!)

Anyway, I was advised by a garage shortly after purchase, the front left shock had a 'slight' dusting of oil, but had plenty of 'service life'

The ride of the car is fine on motorways, but I can feel lateral movement going over bumps and sometimes it feels as if it slides on the front.

The push test and brake test does not show excessive bouncing,

I have tried to film what I can see of the shock absorber.

I would be happy to get this sorted, but any advice is hugely appreciated. I live in the Canterbury area if anyone local knows of a good garage.

Thanks

Autodoc is cheapest source I have found, but the price, fitted may make you weep, even from there

£268.88 is the cheapest I have found for my 08 P3 V70 D5 Sport.
Not sure about the XC70 version (if that's different).
Obviously then the cost of having it fitted on top (unless you. An replace it yourself).

I would have all the other bushes/suspension parts checked first, track control arm/s would be a favourite, before ultimately shelling out on shock absorber/s.

Tyre brand and pressures may also be relevant ?

Not sure if as you have 4c that an error code may be stored. perhaps it's worth a full (and proper) code read also ?

Monroe C2501S - but that is for my 08 V70 D5 sport.

From what I can gather, the XC70 requires Monroe C2503 struts, but I can only find 2005 - 2007 listed.
