Sturgess in Leicester did both my belts for £332. An Indy would probably be cheaper but I liked the fact you get a replacement car and yours gets valeted.

The cost will depend on exactly what you want done and the quality of the parts. Genuine Volvo parts are more expensive, but if you just used something like a Gates kit (Cam belt, tensioner and water pump) and a new aux belt, plus Volvo coolant, the parts would total around 200 quid, however it's also a good idea to change the aux belt tensioner (Inspect the lower idler pulley and alternator for wear) and thermostat (Use a genuine Volvo thermostat) at the same time, so that would put the parts bill to nearer to 300 quid for good quality parts. The work can be done by any good quality reliable Indy garage, it will be much more expensive to use a dealer. Most garages will want to order the parts themselves and if they don't want to use the Gates kit, then another good company is Continental (Marked Made in Germany). The entire service including aux belt and thermostat will take about 5 to 6 hours, so it's an all day job in effect. Some ginger beers are faster than others, but it's not a job you want rushed. My local Indy quoted 400 quid inc tax for a cam belt, tensioner and pump service only, using their coolant and Conti parts. Some fly by night garages might offer to do the cam belt job for as low as 300 quid, but they might just be using a very cheap cam belt and tensioner and coolant that does not have corrosion inhinbitors.

The Volvo cam belt kit is 100 quid Renault water pump and coolant is another 100 quid. Aux belt, tensioner and idler another 100 quid. So I wonder what they used for parts and if a trainee did the work ? Oddly enough the actual cam or aux belt failures don't seem to be a case of direct belt failures, but they are nearly always caused by the failure of the associated tensioner, or the water pump in a few cases.

The diesel interval is 72,000 miles so you've got a bit of breathing space, add that to your 65 and you've got until 137 before you need to start thinking about it, plenty of time to save up.
Both belts need to be changed, am sure someone posted recently they had rec'd a quote for around £250 to replace a cam belt with a Gates kit, shouldn't be much more to add the auxiliary belt to that (another £100 or so). Up to you if you want to replace the water pump, some say it should be done every second belt change, some say the Volvo original pump lasts for 250K. As long as the pump shaft is wobble-free, I'd leave it.

for what it's worth - my rec'd interval is 100,000miles. Not to suggest you should go that long but I do believe you have some wiggle room.
