Hi everyone,

I'm looking around at C70 convertibles for sale at the moment.

I found this car on Autotrader (assuming the link works): clicky here

I've never seen that colour before, it looks like a red metallic plus the wheels are finished in grey. It is described as a "collection special edition" but I thought that was the special edition towards the end of the model run - around 2003 - 2005 roughly?

I tried calling today but no answer and tomorrow is bank holiday.

Does anyone know this car? Was that colour standard or has it been resprayed and the wheels refinished? Also it seems to have an alcantara interior rather than full leather which also seems rare.

.. continued - sorry pressed return and it posted before I had finished typing …

I really wanted a car with manual gearbox but could live with auto for something unusual. I'm hoping that if someone went to the trouble of giving it a custom paint job and refurbing the wheels in grey then they will have done some preventative maintenance. Also it looks like it might be lowered from the pics?

I also wanted a car with black interior (leather or alcantara) as the tan interior seems to wear badly and look dirty.

Thank you in advance.

… also I'm sorry about the thread title, I'm sure I put "unusual C70 convertible for sale" or something similar but it has been changed to just "unusual" for some reason. I must sound like a right idiot!

1) the wheels are from a different Volvo model (S60?) and been painted a daft colour.

2) I've not seen that colour on a C70 soft top before but, it looks likes its had good attempt with some machine polishing and topped with glossing agents. It does look like a genuine colour though.

3) The only collection editions I have ever seen advertised have always been the face lifted ones with model years 04 and 05.

4) as a passing thought, that car looks a bit rough and poorly tarted up for sale. There's better to be had for similar/little more money.

agree it looks a bit tarted up. Not much description and the pics don't show the number plate so you cannot do an online search for the MOT history. Could be a trader.

Thanks for the replies.

It is a trader. He has 9 other cars for sale and you cannot see the registration number on any of them. The descriptions are very poor on all the other ones too so I don't think they are trying to hide anything about this particular car.

I will try and call again today and see if I get an answer, it could be it is a Cat C or D I guess and maybe someone changed the colour while repairing it. I will ask if it is the same colour under the bonnet when I speak to someone.

I found this list of colour codes:

clicky here

The colour could be 436 Cassis metallic or 428 Coral red metallic which were available on the C70. 445 Venetian Red Pearl looks the nearest match but wasn't available for the C70. I think this is Venetian:

I wonder if there are any members in the area Doncaster/Rotherham[Conisborough where the car is is roughly centred between the two and not many miles]that you could maybe PM who'd be willing to pop and have a quick look for you?I'd offer but time pressures car fixing/work means a roughly 50ml round trip would be awkward at present.
