Looks completely rotten from the door bottoms down.
I particularly like "it looks a lot worse than it is sill repairs both arches bit on front wing".

Given that my 164 looked far, far better than that, and has been under resto for ~5 years already (with steady progress)...no...it doesn't look worse than it is. Nothing does. It's *always* worse than it looks.

I do quite fancy a 145 or early 245 though.

cheers

James

Some rusty Amazons to pass the time:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/125487328658
Nice low start auction.

Odd one this, looks half dead but Numberplate sale might finance restoration... ...if you can MOT it:
https://www.gov.uk/personalised-vehi...ate-number-off
"If you have a historic (classic) vehicle you’ll also need a current MOT certificate, even if your vehicle is usually exempt from MOTs."
Last MOT 5 years ago.

Game on 144. Was £10k, then £9k, now sensibly starting at £3.5k (with reserve). Might find it's value this time...

Default New Project For Othen???

Just spotted on eBay, fairly clear MOT history although it looks as though the Odo stopped at 88k in 2019 roughly.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/115469723...Bk9SR9KL9affYA

Might be a bit leisurely though😀

Cheers

You could knit yourself a jumper on the way home in that!

Odd that it's originally a Surrey car but now in south Wales, remember seeing it before and i think the original supplying dealer may have been Squire Furneaux, same as mine was.

That said, mine spent a long time round this neck of the woods then disappeared back down to the Watford/Rickmansworth are for 10 years and then i bought it and repatriated it up here (it had spent most of its life up here after the first few years in Surrey) but i'm a lot closer to London than Swansea is!

Hi Dave,

Was thinking of tempting Alan, as he's almost finished his new Barge project already, and its only been on the road 1 day, he must need another!!😀👍

Ah, but! Alan has now discovered the delights of the 2.3 engine Steve so will know the B200 in tht 740 will be excruciatingly slow.
That said, it would be two projects in one, the car and some new jumpers every time he took it out!

Joking aside though, i think he's really enjoying the GLE 2.3 he's got now, those 200cc make a huge difference, moreso than the 2.0 Cortina over the 1.6 to give a contemporary example.
Also the "coffin-nose" seem to be better equipped than their predecessors so he's probably enjoying the luxury too.

If slow is your thing, the estate would be even better!

Oh tempting, MOT history looks as though it's not exactly been loved, dodgy drivers seat cover in a sale photo!!! Plasterers/Decorators van methinks, and in the background probably another Volvo of some sort of decrepitude😀

Cheers
