Oh the joy...!
Hello all, again...
The gearbox in my 850 Auto has decided to play at silly games. It doesn't like to find reverse. I've adjusted the PNP and it was OK, and it decided it was going to say 'I DON'T THINK SO PAL' when it was really cold the other night. Once it was a little warmer after running, it seemed OK again, if a little, indecisive would be the word I would use. This morning, it decided again to not find reverse, which was really handy when I wanted to go to work, yay! So..... any advice would be helpful. No, I haven't checked the trans fluid as yet, it's on my list to do. Thanks guys and girls! Chris

1st call is to refresh the fluid methinks. My bro has an issue with an old Mitsubishi that started to reverse when the lever was in park, lol.
A fluid refresh & all was good......

Thanks Paul, it's in the garage Friday for something else anyway, and I've asked them too and told them to sort the auto fluid as needed.
Update pending!

UPDATE:
It's FUBAR... Now on the hunt for a gearbox, if anyone knows of one for little to no money. Found one on Fleabay, £90, which seems like a proper bargain. Recommendations? Cheers Chris

Sweet Jesus, how did you manage to kill it?!
Mine in the S70 has had 300 horses put through it at full throttle brake-boost starts on the 1/4 mile!!

Surely not just because of a garage 'diagnosis'. They sometimes have been known to be wrong or ( more likely ) influenced by some 'vested interests' in the repair of such an expensive fault fix. An auto 'so called, specialist' I initially took my ( P1, AW50-42LE autobox ) V70 Auto to when it went faulty tried to tell me I was wrong and it really did have a 5 speed auto box and they could fit a replacement. All V70 autos are 5 speed, or so he said. From that point onward ( from a specialist ) I knew I needed to do my own diagnosis ( mine is definitely a 4 speed auto ). Your fault description sounds less serious than a total FUBAR unless there are some things you have omitted. Colin

Well....
Thanks all for your help. It was definitely the fluid, it had all fallen out! Running well now, didn't kill the box at all, thankfully! Just the fan to fix now...! Thanks guys Chris
