Default 4 litre Aft oil change question

Hi

My local volvo independent is to change my 83,000 2007 185 transmission oil.

He will charge £100 to use 4 litres of volvo oil.
As it's not a full converter drain and there will still be old oil still in it, is it worth just changing 4 litres ? He says he always does this method.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Rob

this subject has been discussed quite a lot, and there are two schools of thought, those who do an annual "drop and replace" or a complete flush using the "gibbons method " , both have their pluses and minuses, its really down to your peace of mind and the fact anything is better than not changing the fluid at all.

Thanks for the reply. I have read through the various posts. I think I'll pay to remove 4 litres now and do it again at next years service.

Yours is the TF80 gearbox not the older AW box,

If he intends to do it for ever service then maybe but i would take the big hit now and do it right,

Oh and it takes around 14 litres to do right

I know you flush more through having done the process a few times, but tf box holds 8 litres and aw 12 iirc.

So looking at 10 or 14 litres? For a good flush, I only mention as it's £60 for 4 litres.

Had both of these, but love the tf box.
