Default V40 T3/T4 Performance Enhancement - Possible?

So I have a MY2006 S60R 74k miles on the clock FVSH in good nick. and I want to keep it that way so I am going to have to buy a newer daily driver for work.

Obviously I cant go out and buy a 250-300bhp manual volvo because that would be too easy and because volvo has deemed that if its over 200bhp you cant be trusted with a manual box...

Grumbling aside its going to end up being a V40 T3 or if im lucky and find one a T4 manual. If not do I try and get an older 1.6l Ecoboost (ford) T3 or the new 2.0l VEA Drive-E T3?

Polestar tune on the newer VEA 2.0L gives you 180bhp, as does a Tune on the older Ecoboost 1.6l.

But the question is what more can be done without spending silly money? I mean a T5 conversion would be great and all but not really practical.
The 1.6l Ecoboost I believe is the same as the one used in The fiesta ST which i believe people have had some success tuning to 200bhp+ without massive modifications.

Anyone got any experience with these engines?

Thanks in advance.

why is the T5 is impractical?

If your thinking of getting a T3 or T4 to get close to the T5 then your only going to get the same mpg problems anyway (if thats the practical problem your referring to as I cant think of any other)

.... Edit im guessing your referring to the new V40's? yeh can just stick a remap on them but really depends on your target BHP for 300bhp on the T3/T4 you'l be looking at breathing mods / cooling / performance exhaust and remap ... not sure of any other engine mods. but with the T5 you would only need a remap.

Yes sorry to clarify I'm looking at a 2011-2016 V40.

What I meant was a T5 transplant in to a Manual T2 or T3 is impractical due to complexity and expense.

I'm limited as I want a Manual other wise I would simply buy a V40 T5.

Basically I all I really want is 200 bhp (ideally 250bhp ish) and a manual box.

Just trying to work out a way of achieving this with a modern volvo.

A brave thing to say on a Volvo forum but....................

If you want a 250bhp manual hatch then get a Ford Focus ST!
