Default Track hugging

Hi Guys,

I have a few questions on trying to get my car to grip and corner much better as im completely new to this. Im looking to go to the Nuremberg in couple months and really want my car to corner as best as it can.

The car already goes fast enough, but the only thing for handling I have done so far is drop it on the lowering coils which has helped a lot with body roll.

What other things do you suggest?

I really dont care about comfort as this car is slowly turning into a track car I think.

Uprated shock absorbers, thicker anti-roll bars, sticky track tyres and plenty of negative camber adjustment would be the way to go. All of this may compromise daily road driving though, so you really want adjustable camber arms and a spare set of wheels with sticky tyres. You can probably live with the rest day to day.

Also, remember the old mantra - slow in, fast out!

I would suggest Uprated dampers, stronger springs again, roll center correction and as suggested some negative camber and the best grippy tyres you can get. The brakes will also want extra cooling to cope with the heavy use

Thanks guys, yeh ive seen the below for adjustable suspension arms?
http://www.partsforvolvosonline.com/...oducts_id=8867

I was thinking of maybe upgrading the brakes to the bigger calipers they have on the V0 awd models 320. or do you know if changing to the Focus ST calipers are the way to go?

Thanks Chris, definitely looking at some road legal summer sticky tires and downgrading my wheels to 17's

do you guys think there are much benefit from wheel spacers?

I'll be honest with you mate, if it's your first time at the ring I wouldn't be too concerned with your corner speed, if you're only there for a few days I doubt you'll be able to remember 1/10th of the corners let alone a whole lap. Your tyres, suspension etc aren't going to be the limiting factor, your memory will be...😂 Not being a tit, first time I went was in a mk2 Astra GTE and that was plenty fast enough to scare the bejesus out of me multiple times. Best advice is go during the week if you can, it's hard getting a clean lap at the weekends as there's so many uk reg cars reprofiling the armco..

Sorry if this isn't your first time there, not trying to teach you to suck eggs. 👍🏻

No problem thats sound advice and as you said im not going to go completely flat out. I thought about that memory thing so I have been up on the xbox since yesterday racing the track as much as I can to memorize the corners.

Its not so much the time im after but I have another mate coming along who has a C32 AMG estate and I know he'l leave me on the straights but I want to make up for it in the corners if I can.

Something else to consider to assist cornering would be to fit strut braces front and rear and also the front lower brace. I recently increased the front track by 50mm (to reduce under steer) and conering has become so much more stable at higher speeds. Good luck with all your modifications and remember, Don't Drive Faster Than Your Angels can Fly!! Good Vibes

Your best source of info is likely to be www.t5d5.org, a bunch on there have just returned from their annual Ring trip.
