Default Ipod & USA Spec PA11 VOL

Hi Guys, Just thought I would share my experiance fitting the above cable to my MY2003 s60 D5. I bought it from the US ebay site from Integration Solutions

http://stores.ebay.com/Integration-S...QQftidZ2QQtZkm

Very friendly and helpful $139.95 + $40 shipping then a further £30 for VAT and clearing. Plus a second hand iPod 4th Gen 20G photo from eBay too £60which now has all my CD's on.

Fitting is pretty straightforward I didn't need to discconnect anything but I guess would still recomend disconnecting the battery -ve. The pen holder at the bottom of the stereo stack is held in by 4 tenatious clips I used a flat bladed table knife (cutlery) down the side to leaver first one side out and then the other and then pulled and wiggled like mad to get it out. Then pull up the gear leaver surround followed by the two torx bits holding the botom of the CC unit in place.

I wouldn't recomend using screwdrivers to pry this out as you might mark the surround. I found by swinging the bottom part out then putting your fingers in the jamb on one side and then pushing the bottom part back in again, with a little bit of jiggling about one side came away at the top. Repeat for the other side and it comes clear I didn't disconnect it but wrapped it in a hand towel to prevent scratches and pushed it to one side.

Then remove the two screws under the stereo again wouldn't recomend any screwdriver prying. If you pull the rear of the unit down about 1 cm then with your finger tips in the CD slot you can pull the front down about 1 cm and the whole unit then slides out. I wrapped it in a tea towel as before but didn't disconnect anything.

I then wired the yellow lead from the cable onto the big red lead on the stereo and earthed the black lead to a screw on the side of the stereo. Havent noticed any interference problems with this set up.

I then routed the cable down past the gear leaver through the centre console and out adjacent to the drivers seat and underneath it. Into the box of tricks which sits neatly under the drivers seat adjacent to the amp and then back up again and into the bottom of the forward cubby hole. I had to drill quite a large hole in the bottom left hand front corner of the forward cubby hole to pass the connector through. I didn't bother to remove the centre console as you can see / feel where the drill will exit however excersize caution as there is a wireing loom close by. When routing the cables under the seat be sure to get them down the side of the seat runner i.e. between the transmission tunnel and the runner so as not to foul the runner when you run the seat back and forth. Push the drivers seat fully back and access is easy.

Replacement is the reverse of removal be sure not to drop a screw into the centre console as they fall into an abyss :-) I wired mine up in iPod control mode and it works a treat very pleased. Took about 45 minutes to install all in.

Hope this helps cheers Ben

I fitted one of these too, put the unit in the glove compartment.
Mr Classixx on ebay $120 plus $30 shipping, no import tax or VAT, go the ebayer to mark its value down to less $50 so HM GOV didn't bother

They are very good, and thourghly recommended, I just need a bigger IPOD now
