Default oil level check

just to add the book also says if the electronic dipstick on the dash is between max and min, do not add oil until the dash instructs you to do so as may result in overfilling with oil, not a good thing for the engine.
and in hope- mines done 142k miles, and its just 12k miles from last dealer service, and still on max.(175bhp d5,or 2.4d depending on the day!)

Default 2017 XC60 dipstick

A newbie on this forum and grateful for the previous posts prior to doing a 'simple' oil change on my 2017 XC60 which was previously serviced at the main dealer.
Removal of mini dipstick made easy by using a mini long handled roller frame from Tool Station.
Electronic dipstick level 'OK', mini dipstick indicated overfull. Sucked out 6.3lts (max 5.9l) using a Sealey fluid extractor - clean and simple.

Hence the reason no dipstick on new VEA engine. No hole to do do a quick vacuum oil change.

This helped me checking mine! 2016 XC60 D5 and I've had it for a month now. Never knew how to check oil level as it's always been grayed out! Thanks

Default Longer dip stick

Just logged in to collect info on oil levels and would be interested for the part no of the extension dip stick which I can get my dealer to fit.

My electronic version has told me again to add oil 0.5 litre after having had a service
which after talking to the dealers they advise me not to.

I would prefer the manual version as back up also the dealer only fills to 75% as advised by Volvo.

Thanks

VO31316562 - dipstick 19.80
VO31375301 - pipe 29.52
VO30637865 - seal 3.24
VO00982776 - screw 1.44

Easy enough job to do yourself from UNDER the car. Just remove undertray and access is good from the bottom.

If you are getting the dealer to do it then they'll look up the parts themselves. If they are going to charge more than 45mins labour to do this then they are extracting the urine.
