Default What ETM do I have?

So what does a Bosch ETM look like . I think I may have one but not sure. I have looked at pics in threads in this forum and they all show 'end caps' hiding carbon tracks and things. Mine is a ali block with a jubilee clip at on end , four bolts at the other and a plug that goes in at the back. Is this the type that usually fails?

That looks nothing like the ETM that has all the problems so I would say its the later device which also stacks up with the year of the car, the unit that gives us the problem is larger than the device you have fitted, for a very well detailed explanation of what goes wrong and what it looks like click Here - Mike

Is that deffo the ETM ???
I thought the ETM was hidden more, under the manifold, near the dipstick...that might be the air mass meter or whatever it's called officially
I was going to look at a 52 plate V70 2.4 but i'm avoiding it for a later one...not buying a car with a built in hand grenade fault

The crap ETM units were fitted to 1999 to 2001 cars, the normally aspirated engines have the ETM bolted straigh tto the end of the inlet manifold so these are very easy to see and remove. The turbo models have the ETM burried under the inlet manifold and are considerably more fiddly to remove - Mike

Hi Mikealder
Do you think a 52 plate V70 2.4,reg of 24/11/2002 will have the newer,decent ETM ???
The car I've found is nice but I don't want one that might go wrong and cost £££'s
Cheers
Mark
