Advice needed on buying a v70
Hi Guys
I'm reasonably new to this site. I finally found a Volvo I'm keen on going to view What in particular should I be looking at when going to view this. It's a Volvo D5 I've copied the ad below I would appreciate any advice you can offer. 2003 Volvo V70 S D5, Manual, 164,000 miles, (those of you who know volvos will know this is nothing for one of these), Full Leather Interior, Heated Seats, Dual Climate control, Air conditioning, Side Impact Protection system, Auto lights, Auto wipers, Bluetooth Hands free kit fitted, Electric Mirrors, Cargo liner, 40-50 MPG round town, 60+ is easily achievable on a run, 163 BHP & 350nm Torque as standard so it pulls like an absolute train! Ideal for Towing, Can tow Just under 2 Tonnes, Approx £230 per year to tax (petrol versions are around £300), Has been Professionally Valated, Cambelt Kit and waterpump Replaced @ 152,000 miles, Will be Fully serviced if Full asking price is Met including, Oil Change, Oil Filter, Air Filter, Cabin Filter, Fuel Filter, Engine Flush & All brakes Stripped, Cleaned and Replaced If Necessary, |

Few things
Check the crank case isn't pressurised. Do this with a latex glove on the oil filler and a tight fitting rubber band, if the glove inflates with engine running its a very involved fix. Takes a decent spanner man a few hours and parts are not cheap. Also, have a good look at the engine mountings, all of them. the front and back ones are known to fail and have vacuum hoses to the. The gearbox torque arm isn't that expensive but will probably be knackered if it hasn't been changed. Good luck Al |

You may get more responses in the section that covers that model: http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=19
For manual gearboxes, potential problems include DMF and leaky clutch master cylinders. Check MOT history to get an idea of how well it has been looked after: https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-history |
