I have a Maplin kit.
Maplin code A61JJ.

Changed cars before I fitted it for one that had factory ones.

In Guildford, Surrey.

FOC to collect or postage cost if anyone wants the kit.

Probably a dozy question, but don't you hit problems in drilling the bumper? I've got a 2006 V70 and I'm sure it's got a metal bumper behind the plastic one.

Had the garage fit a genuine sensor set on our 51 plate C70, very reliable but not loud enough as the radio would not fade out.
Also removed an aftermarket set which had been fitted on our 53 plate V70 as they were totally unreliable and would sound even if there was nothing there, fitted new pre painted bumper and a genuine set of sensors instead, which again work well. had to replace the bumper as the hole diameter was different and trying to drill alongside previous holes would of made a mess and filling old holes may not have lasted.
Genuine parts are not cheap, and the price seems to vary.

I have fitted a number of after market kits form the likes of Ebay, inc a set with distance display in the front of the car on a rover 45, several beeper only types, my own XC70 has beeper only type fitted did have to remove the bumper but I was fitting the towbar at the same time so not a problem, most recent was a beeper only set fitted to a friends fiat doblo took the power from the reversing lights as normal and no problems with the bulb failure warning system. one set was even colour matched to the car looked factory fitted.

Here a post I made some time ago when I fitted a Maplin kit with distance indicator to a Frontera Estate (with a metal rear bumper):

For £30 it was a bargain and easy to fit - and worked well.

I was quoted £1200 (Inc. VAT) for my V70 '53 plate by a main dealer! Sounded a bit steep. The car has only done 53K so I was looking to invest in it, but at that price it's almost half the price of the car!

I posted recently about the after market parking sensors that I fitted to my S40:

http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showpo...9&postcount=14

I paid about £13 for the sensors, about the same for the paint and they took a little over 30 mins to install (excluding painting)

They've been fitted for over a year now and work perfectly - I can't tell the difference between these and the factory fitted sensors I had on my last Volvo.

Cool Help with fitting aftermarket sensors to 04 V70

Easy to fit. Left the display at the rear of the car (figured I'd be looking in my mirror anyway), that way I didn't have to route cabling to front.

Ran the display cable up the rear pillar and brought it out at the boot light.
Can you help me with some more detailed instructions/answers to my questions? I bought the same type of kit as you from eBay. I have an 04 V70. Where did you place the control unit? How easy was it to remove the bumper and drill the holes? How do you ensure the sensors sit well and stay put in the bumper? How do you hold the wires in place and where do you route them in to the car? What about positioning? I'm just going to place the four in the approximate locations I see for the cars fitted with them.

Doing this with cars is all new to me but I succeeded in fitting a GROM bluetooth unit with charging port and aux cable last week and thought I'd try this as my next mod.

Grateful for your help!
