C70 Stereo playing up - HELP!!
Hello,
Desperate for some advice. My stereo in my 06 C70 is living it's own life, just started this week. When you switch it on, in radio or CD mode it will play for 35-40 seconds, then switch itself off for 4 seconds (the display will go to the main mode - where it shows temp in cabin) and then switch itself back to where it was before. I've tried to unplug the plus on the battery for 30 min to reboot the system, but still nothing. Is there a system upgrade on the hardware that needs to be done? which is causing this? Any advice you might have I would appreciate greatly. many thanks Uffe |

The stereo is original from the factory, with 6 CD changer and subwoofer. Nothing has been altered with at all. Sideline here, is the Sat Nav linked to the stereo or a separate entity? |

Not sure. I wasn't suggesting you messed with or changed stereo, simply that your symptom is similar to an uncoded stereo. could be a number of faults.

Thanks Mr, I will try the first thing you suggested. I've found a video in Youtube showing how to do it.. It might be the first point of call

just do it carefully, if you unplug stuff when car on and battery connected you will get airbag warnings and errors that you can't easily remove!

The security system is coming in when it shouldn't . all you can do is disconnect the battery , then take all the plugs out of the top and bottom of the main CEM unit under the glovebox , then refit it all back and connect up the battery , The pins in the plug sockets can play up , at least it could identify the area of the problem . The dealer can soon find what is going on with a diagnostic read out if all else fails .

Thank you so much for this and that's what I will do too..
Always make sure the battery is disconnected before anything is dealt with. The video is very good in explaining all and how to do it. |

So, here we go again.
I've taken out the CEM, cleaned it, all the ports with an electric cleaner. Let it sit and dry for awhile and refitted everything back again .. and sadly the radio/cd fault, pause for 4 seconds every 30-40 seconds is still there after we tested it again. Anymore advice where to look, search for? many thanks |
