Strange Electrical Fault S60 2011
Hi all,
I'm having some trouble with a recently purchased Volvo S60 1.6 drive-e model. It's quite an intermittent fault but sometimes when driving the car will go into meltdown and display basically every fault symbol and warning message it knows on the dash and the radio / dials cut in and out. A video linked of the exact fault https://youtu.be/kFVC4S1VNw8 Weve had it at a local garage for the past week and they're struggling to diagnose the fault. Weve actually recently bought this car on finance and already replaced the alternator and battery as we were told the issue was that. Any ideas on the issue? Thanks in advance. |

What does VIDA say?
Could it be that bad alternator fried battery and CEM? |

It's probably water getting into the CEM or a CAN bus connector? Usually from the windscreen seal leaking at the top.

The CEM is behind the glovebox in the passenger footwell. There's a large connector on the side behind the carpet which is quite prone to getting kicked and knocked so I'm told. It might be worth unplugging and reconnecting all the connections under there. The CEM is a bit awkward to get to but it's quite easy to get the glovebox out which makes it much easier.

Question I'd be asking myself is has this car had a bath at some time in its life ?
It's unusual for the electrics to play up in this way (I've had two S60's in the last 14 years). I've got an '11 reg S60 D3 on 83,000 miles, I've never seen anything like this from the electrics.

The wiring looms in the engine bay are rubbing against each other, they wear out from vibration and causing these symptoms you're having.
