Signs of a failed mount, 2002 V70 D5
Hi all,
I've recently replaced the front engine mount on my 2002 V70 D5 as it had a vacuum leak. The new mount was fine for a week or so but yesterday I found that some vibration had returned, on inspection the cable that holds the mount together seems very loose and the rubber pad under the gearbox is about 1mm away from touching. Is it common for these mounts to collapse? Thanks in advance.

It came from Polar Parts via ebay.

Polar parts are a reputable supplier but it seems I've been unlucky with this mount. It wasn't a cheapie either.

Sounds like you received a dodgy part, which I suppose can happen. Is there any kind of guarantee with the part you purchased that gives you the option to send it back for a replacement, or get your money back failing that?
You're better off using brands like Lemforder, Meyle or Corteco as an example personally, but its up to you.

They're sending me a refund and I've bought a Meyle part from another supplier.

That's good. Meyle parts are generally decent quality, so it should work better for you this time.
