My 68 plate V90 was in for its 18.000 mile service on Friday, and a power pulse pipe replacement. Was given a V90 D4 as a courtesy car and to be quite honest pleasantly surprised with it. OK, I went for the D5 for the awd, winters round my neck of the woods can be entertaining to say the least. Don't get me wrong I do like my D5 but in retrospect I'm thinking I should have gone for the V90 CC with the D4 lump. Hindsight a brilliant thing I suppose. Looking around a V90 CC Ocean Race at the dealers forecourt resulted in a swift yank on the collar from the wife, less said about that the better.
Steve. V90 R Design D5 AWD Bursting Blue. 18.000 mile service £475 inc vat Power pulse pipe. FOC warranty. Still having a crafty peek on Autotrader. |

I just bought a V90 CC D4. did not test drive but bought the car as I do have another car for fun drves.
I have only previously ever owned a 3 litre engined diesel cars and loved them as they did 0-60 in 5.9 secs and the torque as well. was getting the D4 knowing it is a 2 litre engine and was expecting very average performance but I should say I am pleasantky surprised. i am very happy but did put the Polestar onto it, so maybe thats why it feels very smooth with gear shifts and power delivery. My criteria was more on the features on the car than the engine when i searched for cars on Volvo Selekt but was moving towards D4 anyways from a price point and that for my needs the D4 was adequate. |

Thanks for the replies.
The test drive went well, or at least as well as it could with our 2 year old daughter in the back. Liked the car, very smooth (even with the 20 inch alloys). I did notice some juddering/ steering wheel wobble especially under braking at motorway speeds. The brake discs were well rusted/ corroded so im not sure if that's all it was? I assume it's been sat on the forecourt for awhile. Loved the pano roof, mainly for the amount of light it lets in. I found the seats firmer than my current Octavia VRS but can't say whether there would be an issue with comfort on long journeys. One of the things I loved was how quiet it was inside, having driven VAG cars for the last 10 years it was a huge difference. Didn't notice any wind/ road noise on the motorway and no tyre roar from the 20 inch tyres. It had Pirelli tyres on the front and Michelin on the rear, I assume at 10k miles one set needed to be replaced, if I go for it I will be asking the dealer to ensure all 4 tyres match, it would really annoy me having different branded tyres! Engine felt good, I think I'd be put off the D4 due to power vs the size/ weight of the car. My current Octavia has the 184bhp 4x4 diesel and it's fine, but the car weighs a fair bit less than the V90. Are there any other things I should be aware of before we take it any further? I'm wondering whether we should also test drive a cross country....... Are dealers likely to negotiate on service packages? I'm booked to test drive a Jag XF Sportbrake on Tuesday. 3.0d v6 but it's rear wheel drive. The last 2 cars I've had have been awd so im used to it now. Cheers |
