Default Volvo S60 D3 DSTC, City Safety, airbag light

Hey guys. Really would appreciate some advice. I've recently had the above lights on. Took it to a volvo specialist and they've told me the SRS module needs replaced at a cost of nearly £800.

I've been told you can fit a used module but it would need coded to the car. Is there anyone in Scotland with the software to perform it.? Sorry I'm quite naive when it comes to this.

Any advice would appreciated.

Would a main dealer not code in a used one?

Hi there

I've asked two and they said they wouldn't. It's frustrating as the used modules are less than 100 quid..and a brand new one is 650. 860 fitted.

Unfortunately my mot isn't far away and I need it fixed for then.

you would need to get it checked over professionally by volvo who understand them .. it could well be the srs module but in those cases there is a code saying SRS Internal fault .... a few simple communication checks would soon diagnose it . There could be a service bulletin on the problem too .

There is a label on them saying "This module contains car specific data "
you cant use a used one .

Hi Clan.

The above codes were from a volvo specialist in Glasgow. They informed me that there was no communication with the module, and are 99% certain it's a brand new module. I've spoken to a few other specialists; one told me it sounds more a wiring issue than a module issue.

There are no specific codes in the srs module , communication tests need to be carried out on this first.

The CVM code indicates wrong module and software issues , BCM and steering wheel angle sensor also indicate communication problems.

How did all this come about ? One day working fine, the next day these problems? Or has someone been tampering with the CVM systems ?

There is only one specialist for this and that is the dealer , you cant fix anything unless you know how it works .. you cant afford to consider other peoples heresay guesses.. you will have to give it to them and let them diagnose and advise . be honest and tell them all you know or it could get even more expensive..

I has this a while ago on my XC60, turns out the SRS module had gone pop & taken out most of the other safety systems with it.

Dealer was the only option to get me up & running. Indie gave me all the codes but then was unable to help further.

Hi

I started it up next day and the lights all came on.

The dstc and air bag were first and after a few hours the city safety came on as well. Occasionally it has disappeared and came back.

It's booked in for the repair. So will just need to take this on the chin

Oh!! Sounds like we've got the same issue. Shame it's so pricey
