HEATER MATRIX WARNING
hI Guys,
Just thought i would make you aware of a potential problem i found in my 850 T5 ,i noticed the water level dropping in the expansion tank slowly over a 2 week period ,after checking the engine bay without succes,i noticed a damp patch in the carpet on the passenger side of the car. After lifting the sound deadning mat and carpet the heater matrix is leaking a drop of water every 2 minutes or so ,i found a brown substance on the bottom of the matrix where it has been leaking for some time,i bought new pipes from Volvo to replace from the bulkhead to the engine ,Volvo told me they keep them in stock due to ongoing problems customers encounter with water loss and burst pipes. I would highly recommend checking your cars for similar leaks before it is to late, i am going to replace the Matrix in the morning to be on the safe side ,it looks like a total pig of a job ,have to be about 3 ft tall to do this job either that or hand stands may on the menu. Hope this helps. Jason. |

RE: HEATER MATRIX WARNING
My Dad recently had to replace the heater matrix on his '98 S70 T5 because it was leaking into the driver footwell. It made a pretty yucky mess of his carpet but I think most of it's cleaned up now. But definitely best to try and catch any leaks there early.
