Put four new Dunlop SportMaxx on last month and have just holed the side wall on the rear. I could greet. Now debated replacing it or putting four all seasons on instead, which is what I probably should've done originally.

I'm afraid I can't claim such efficiency! I did change a headlight bulb on my v70 though -Without removing the bumper!
Hmm nearly fell out of love with the car lol but is now just a memory! For those interested to know, you have to do it by feel - the spring clip that secures the bulb clips in at the top of the bulb housing - don't squeeze in the bottom of the spring clip or you'll have to replace the clip by feel as well- not easy! I found looking at the driver side one helped orientate things- it's easy to see the driver side bulb/ housing /clip. One of them there inspection cameras (Available from the German Supermarket) is a great help also. Can't imagine doing it at the roadside! |

I had my 335K miles V70 rebushed by local Volvo indie.
The worst were rear trailing arm's front bushes (OE nr 31277893) which let the rear axle swing about 1.6-2 cm front to back. Also the camber bolt bushes had to be changed because the bolts didn't turn and had to be broken. And front control arm bushes changed. Also rear springs changed to Lesjöfors. There are so many bushes in the rear multi-link. But the car handles now fantastic so I'll let them be

Doing bushes (bushings) is good. It irrefutably demonstrates the affordability and practicality of keeping a well made vehicle.
I've been saying for years that we have to keep our cars on the road until such time that we can make an informed decision regarding buying a "next tech" car. You done good in my estimation. |

Hey G&K. I agree. The car is wonderful and even before the job it passed MOT clean.
The only "next tech" I really miss is DSTC/ESP for winter since mine is STC only. I'm 28 and don't use a smartphone so the next tech would have to be something very practical like a self driving car.

Replaced a calliper at the front with a very good second hand one.
The bleeding nipple on the old one had broken off and couldn't get it out. Also adjusted the hand brake.

The car started to need a few churns to start, it's petrol with an LPG conversion.
I noticed staining on the road, it was petrol. Turns out that the not yet year old fuel filter had a pinhole leak. Ironic given I had changed what I believe to be the 15 year old original filter last year as preventative maintenance. New filter fitted and all good, glad I had taken the other car on a 300 mile journey yesterday, as we could have been stuck on the A9 at night. Will look at the old filter tomorrow in daylight to see if it's a manufacturing defect or mechanical damage, as I do have to use farm tracks. Might look at making a skid plate protector as it sits quite exposed. |

New rear brake discs, handbrake shoes and brake pads fitted. It was a bit disconcerting having to use a 24” breaker bar on the calliper bolts! Found out the back tyres are on the wrong sides (directional), oops!
