Default Bouncy Windows.

Hi All,
So I've had my car ,a S60, a week now and am really impressed with it. The seats are unbelievably comfy.
The only problem I've got is the driver side window. If I put it to go auto up, it comes back down to the starting point.
I have tried the reset, which I may have gotten wrong.
Key to II, hold front window buttons up for 8ish secs then lock/unlock car twice.
Not much of a problem and this T5 lump makes up for most things.
Advanced Thanks,
Simon.

Have you tried making the runners a bit slippier with silicone spray or grease.
If the motor current gets too high it will think that someone could have their head stuck out the window and the safety backs it off.

As Brendan has said, bit of Silicon spray on the window rubbers works a treat. Don't use WD40 though as that is known to wear rubber.

Do it on all 4 windows and you'll be amazed at the increase in up/down operation speed!

Essential maintenance for any vehicle if you ask me...

The trim along the window that runs inside the car at the top of the cardboard can get bent, trapped between the window and the cardboard. Give it a look. I had to cut a piece of mine that got bent. Here's the calibration thing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=69TAUY4ZkcQ

It is also worth checking the outer window lower seal, this can ride up if the silicone is dirty - again an easy cure is cleaning the window with vinegar to remove any algae that may have formed along the seal. Then try using something like Gummi Pflege - which protects ageing rubber & silicone and helps to restore the original profile. It costs from £5.99 to £9.99 per bottle depending upon where you buy it from and the delivery charge - best value I found a couple of months ago was to buy two bottles from that well known supplier named after a south american river.....( https://www.amazon.co.uk/Nextzett-Gu...55JXZDP8282641 ) which worked out at around £8.50 a bottle including delivery - but you might be able to find a better deal by going direct to Micks Garage.

Smile try this

Your solution might just be here.. the window backoff thing is some sorrt of safety feature, once the door module error is registered there are only a couple of ways to reset it (without using vida) but give these a go, you need to follow the steps closely...

Thumbs up

Fantastic tip with the silicone spray. I tried all the various methods posted for resetting, thinking it was an electrical fault. A tin of silicone spray from Halfords sorted it and the car windows operate more smoothly now

The fix was to put the key in position 1 not 2 and do as I stated at the top of this thread.

Do you just spray the silicon around the bottom of the window seal without removing anything and then just run the window up and down a few times?
