Default Remote setting heated seats

I've searched the forums and the handbook, but I'm none the wiser on this!

I've got a 2018 V90 Inscription with heated seats, but no auxiliary heater.

When I set the timer in the app for the car to switch on the heated seats, nothing actually happens until I get in the car and start it (when it's below 10 degrees).

So it seems that the timer in the app only saves me a single tap of the seat heater button when I start the car - or am I missing something?

I was hoping that I'd be able to get into a nice warm car on these cold mornings ...

6 days in to ownership of my MY19 V90 CC I too am confused/frustrated by the Parking Climate functionality and description. I was under the impression that by setting the timer on the app and/or in the central display that the car would automatically start to ensure it was ready at the proscribed time. That doesn't seem to be the case for cars that don't have an aux heater. Volvo should be much clearer in the handbook and online.

What I do think works is setting (via the centre display) the items that you want to come on automatically e.g. seat, wheel, front and rear heated screen; and then us remote start.

I've come out the last couple of mornings to a nice warm car.

I agree - this works.

Thanks guys. It's a shame that the heated seats can't be set to come on via the timer, without the engine running (assuming the battery has enough charge).

The timers are solely for pre-heating the engine and cabin when an aux heater is fitted. Without the aux heater they serve no function afaik.

The various electric heaters require ERS to be used with the relevant heating options selected in Sensus.

T8 models behave differently to the others.

Thanks - it seems like a massive oversight in not greying-out this functionality in the app if it's not compatible with the connected car. I bet it would save Volvo CS loads of calls every winter ...

It's not just the app that is misleading as the centre console also gives the option to set timers. There is a 'button' that says "Preconditioning" that can be turned on and off. Very bizarre piece of software design,

Without the aux heater fitted, I guess the Preconditioning button is there for summer use when it'll turn on the fans to ventilate the cabin with outside air.

With it being -6 degrees this morning, I set the remote start to warm the car up.

Whilst the front and rear windows were nicely de-iced, the interior was completely cold, and the heated seat didn't come on until I got into the car and "switched on" the already running engine using the starter knob.

Anyone know how I can have the interior heater and heated driver's seat come on automatically when using remote start?

There is a tick box in the sesus settings to allow seat heaters to come on automatically with engine start, you can set drivers or both front seats to come on.
In the time remote start runs the engine your heater will not warm the car up, especially with a diesel car, but it will take less time to heat up once you are driving.
