Will 16" alloys fit a 2008 R-Design?
Our r-design currently wears 18s and want a more comfortable ride, just wanted to make sure the 16s would clear the brakes etc.?
Cheers, Josh |

What's the condition of them? I have some mint 17" ones (I think from the v50) but insure on what model and could be interested in a swap. I'm in Harlow, but work in Tewin, Hertfordshire so not far from you.
Providing you are interested of course! I thought standard sized wheels was 17"? |

Hey I had 18s on my Rdesign S40 I still have them for the summer but know what you mean, im not sure on 16s but i have now got 17s on and it is miles more comfortable. I would definitely recommend the 17s as there is enough comfort with them.

My 2005 S40 1.8 sport had 18" wheels, the ride was nice and hard but noisy. The Pirelli P zeros fitted from new were very expensive but stuck to the road like glue.
My current 2010 S40 1.6D Drive has 17" wheels which are much more comfortable and quieter, tyres are Goodyear efficient grip. |

If it's a T5 or D5 it's likely to have 320mm front brakes that may not clear 16s. If it's not a T5 or D5 you should be fine.

17's certainly fit. 16's won't. They will hit the brake callipers.
I took the 18's off mine and put on 17's. Much better ride and the tyres are much less. |

As above, it depends. If you have a 4 cylinder car 16" wheels will fit fine.

iainmd is quite right.
It depends on the size of the brake disk, there are two different size disks, the bigger ones will not fit in a 16' wheel inner dish. 320mm and 278mm disk sizes. Just to throw a slight spanner in the works, my 2.0d has the larger 320mm disks from new. When I get new ones, it always comes up as having the smaller 278mm ones and confuses EuroParts. |

There are 3 front disk sizes in total across the range:
278mm - as fitted to our 1.6D 300mm - most 2.0D (plus my very early T5) 320mm - T5/D5 As long as you don't have 320mm discs you'll be fine with 16s. The disc size is stamped on the front caliper?

The C30 never came with the 320mm disks (what do you have?), 2.0D and smaller had 278mm and the T5/D5 had the 300mm.320mm came on the AWD V50 and S40. Unless you have fitted 320mm disks from another model, the 16" wheels will be fine.
