Cool Just how FAST can a 960 go?

Well, I wonder. She cruises soooooo easily at about 77 that I cannot help but wonder what would happen if I pressed the pedal to the floor and left it there for a while!

Who knows? Maybe you've driven an Autobahn? Trouble is, I'll never get to Germany!

Curious!

A 3.0 should be able to go off the (140mph) clock, the 2.5 to about 135mph indicated speed.

My mate's 3.0 will go from 30mph to off the clock just by using the '+' button on the cruise control, my 2.5 holds a steady 130mph on cruise if required.

Yep, the 3.0 goes off the clock, I stopped (the car had more but it wasn't the right time to go for it) when it was back to the P in MPH.

Be nice to find out a true top speed, not just an indicated one.

Talking Gee whizz!

Thanks for all the replies. 140+, that's REALLY FAST!

Me, I'd just be too scared of things like a tyre blowout to go anything like that quick - even on an Autobahn.

But the next E-type I come across maybe better watch out!

Cheers

The 960 engine was developed by Porsche I believe. They are 2.5 24v which was only introduced after the 1995 model year facelift and the 3.0 24v which is essentially the same engine with a smaller capacity. I also believe there was a Turbo on earlier 960's.
