XC90 PCH- In car connected service
Hi everyone,
I have found a PCH deal with one of the broker and one of the contract condition is the finance company/funder(Lex Auto lease) does not allow and do not sign up to support the activation of In-car Connected services within this vehicle. When I asked the reason I was told this data protection which is lame excuse as they can always ask Volvo to reset the id for the vehicle so that its ready for the next owner. Has anyone experienced this and managed to get the service activated through Volvo? Thanks in advance. |

This is indeed a stipulation of Lex, however, what they don't know won't hurt them. Volvo Car Leasing was Lex up until September 2017 (although I can still fund through Lex if required, Santander are usually cheaper) and we always used to activate the On Call
.... you should be able to take it to your local dealer once you have it and get it activated. Just ensure you have it deactivated before you hand it back.... The broker won't have any way of doing it, hence why they're probably standing by the Lex stipulation, but any Volvo dealer will happily activate it. P.S. If you want a comparable quote then drop me the details - I'll even activate your on call! Last edited by MtillingVolvo; Jun 15th, 2018 at 15:16. |

Mine is from Lex, and I have VOC enabled, albeit my car is a fleet car, not a private contract so maybe there is a distinction.
The dealer had to check with Lex before enabling it as he was aware they weren’t keen, but 30 minutes later I had the codes and was ready to go.

As you know on-call is something completely different and is to be law on all new cars shortly .. LEX need educating and no better person to tell them than you of course ..

I have exactly the same issue. See here.
So I dug out the contract with Lex and have written to them, and the broker. Guess what - it does not prohibit Connected Services, just their liability... CONNECTED SERVICES (this clause only applies if the Vehicle includes any Connected Service (see the definition of this term in clause 15(b) below))The VOC is benign, and is part of Volvo's car safety and vehicle management suite and provides no risk or liability to Lex. I also told them that I now have substantial evidence of Lex Volvo vehicles (brand new and older, on maintenance contract and without, private and company leases) using VOC as standard. his information is from both individuals and direct from Volvo dealers.

I know Tesla have the ability to re-map over the air so that is an example. They also used last year and this year to send re-maps to Tesla cars registered in certain areas Florida to extend the electric range (by reducing performance) and help drivers allow drivers to evacuate as part of the mandatory hurricane evacuation plan.

Something Tesla also do is log how many times and for how long you done the rapid charge and used the stupid fast modes, they will restrict use of both to protect the warranty.
