What starter motor do I use?
I'm putting a B230ET engine into a 360 and I was wondering which starter motor do I use B230ET (1987 760) or B200E?
Or do I need a different one? |

I would imagine either works, a redblock starter motor is pretty generic or so i thought.
Cant say i've ever looked too closely at a 300 series starter motor, but i'd use whichever one gives you the best packaging. |

Use the oldest you can find , they all fit for that range of engines ,after about 1990 they changed to an overgrown wiper motor type motor which has an epicyclic gear train inside and sounds really nasty .

Cheers for the replies.
I'll use the 360 starter as it's 1 year older and works perfectly. |

Havn't looked carefully but I thought there might be difficulties fitting the 360 starter to a B230FT as the turbo engine is much lower compression and fitted with a much smaller starter. There are alot of pipes around it, not sure what they are for, but looks like space could be limited, you should also check the wiring is the same diameter.
I would want to fit the 360 one as it is alot faster, and the LH2.4+EZK system is slow to start (seems its waits for TDC possibly before activating). Maybe its just the slow starter on my 95 940. |
