Default XC90 issue with seats

XC90 Inscription, 2016 model, owned since new - Jan 2016, England

We have the beige seats as it makes the interior lighter.

Both the driver and passenger seat base (i.e. the bit you sit on) had to be replaced by Volvo Feb 2017. The leather actually rubbed down to the base material of the leather as we clean the jeans colouring off. Volvo replaced the base of the seat free of charge.

Wow. This is worth noting.

Can I ask which cleaner you used?

Hi Wobbly,

I just used wet wipes used for domestic cleaning. Not sure about the brand.

I have a mock sheepskin piece of material which I put on the seat base when wearing jeans and this has stopped this problem. Having said that the XC70 I had for 3 years with leather never wore out and as You just cleaned it with leather wipes.

Probably better to use the leather wipes Volvo supply.

Have just been in touch with dealer as I noticed this yesterday on the passenger seat when cleaning them using leather wipes. Looks like the outer skin has come off the leather. This is just after 5000 miles and the passenger seat is only occupied around 25% of the time and I am a bit OCD about looking after the interiors of my cars, including not using anything abrasive.

My passenger seat is the same after just 4000 miles, very disappointing, I will be taking this up with my dealer. (Also blond leather) and as you say used far less than drivers seat. So probably only been sat on for 2000 miles max.

I guess the R-Design seats are slightly better in this aspect. (I know its a different material)

6+ months, holding well so far

Pardon my ignorance on the subject (newbie) but which leather are we looking at here? Many thanks.

David.

Looks like the "lip" at the front of the seat.

You swivel your legs, which inevitably rubs against the leather each time you get in and out - Surprised how quickly it's degraded though.
