Default XC60 wifi

just taken delivery of a new xc60 inscription. Trying to set up the wifi.. can anyone tell me if it uses your phone as a wifi hotspot, uses 4G via your phone or the car has a built in modem? Have successfully paired my phone (samsung galaxy A70) to the car & it's ok for phone calls/messages, but can't get any internet access.

Hi, provided your car is a MY20 car, it should have come with a Vodafone 4g data sim installed at the dealership to provide the car with internet access. There is a very good thread that covers this on the forum
https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=297482
If like myself, my dealership 'forgot' to install the SIM during the PDI but the happily posted me a SIM that I successfully installed and set up using the set up PDF in the above thread. This SIM will give you 100GB's of data to use and will provide the car with a mobile wifi connection for users in the car.
I hope this helps.

The answer is all of the above. You can connect to internet via your phones bluetooth, or by tethering to your phone by wifi or using the internal modem. Read the manual - there are settings under "communications" which determine which method is used. Obviously to use internal modem you need a data sim.

The Sim goes into a black plastic holder that is located behind a small removable “hatch” in the lower left hand vertical side carpet of the passenger footwell.

Make sure you keep a firm grip on it if you remove it, its easy to drop it into the void and lose it.

Really? I find the online manual app very informative. You have ticked the box for bluetooth internet connection in settings? You have enabled bluetooth tethering in your phone settings?

you have had a very poor handover , they are supposed to spend an hour with you helping to explain and show you things like this ...
The handbook is a wealth of information some of it not found elsewhere .
