Default Dealer for 2nd Service?

Hi,

XC60 coming up for its 2 year service. I bought it in the Midlands but live in North West London so wondered if anyone had experience of the 4 Volvo dealers nearest to me: Volvo Cars North London, Volvo Cars West London, Volvo Cars Watford and Volvo Cars Gerrards Cross?

TIA

Steve

Firstly at least a couple of the dealers ,Watford and Gerrards Cross are the same company, feel the other two are as well. I use the Watford branch and I have no complaints about their work. I have some reservations about their service receptionists as in my last dealings with them ( a couple of months ago) they were a little 'light' in their product knowledge. To balance this their Service Manager is helpful.

Ditto for Volvo Watford.

I’ve used them since 2011, although I purchased my first XC60 from North London. I’ve never had an issue with the service reception’s product knowledge, and they did sort out an issued with VOC, that Volvo Sweden couldn’t fix.

My only gripe with Watford is that they still think that my battery is ok, even though it never has more than 60% charge in it, even after several hours on a motorway, so the Stop/Start never works.

have they carried out the official on board battery test? This will generate a code for warranty purposes if faulty ..

Failing that take the battery off and charge it on a 20 A charger for as long as possible preferably over 24 hours , this might well give it a fresh breath of life :-)

I’ve never specifically asked them to carry out that test, but I will, next time I’m there.

When I told them about it a couple of months ago, they printed out a list of journeys, and because they were mainly short runs, had the perfect reason for my issue.

I’m going to get myself a decent charger in the near future and see what happens then.

That is the reason then , the battery monitor stores a wealth of information .
A long run is not the best way to charge the battery these days .

The charger will get it up to about 80% pretty quickly , that last 20% takes probably 4 times as long again ...

Is that what it’s called, or does it have a specific Volvo name (the onboard battery test I mean)?

It is the only battery test that a dealer does now since about 10 years ago it is very comprehensive and done in conjunction with the VIDA ..
