Default Rear Light Problem (with photo)

Hello All,

From the attached photo, do those LED's have to work for the MOT or can they be masked off?The rest of the rear light cluster is fine.

Thanks in anticipation

Side markers - not a legal requirement in the UK. If they try to fail you ask for the legislation which shows they are a requirement.

Thanks very much for the info, do you think masking over that bit would matter and the same on the other side?

I think that's a good idea as it forces them to either ignore the situation or ask for the masking to be removed as they are not allowed to do it. That's when you can hit them with the demand for the regulation under which they are making the request.

Hi,

Question I would be pondering is why they are not working?
Is it the same on both sides?
It is very unlikely that all 4 LED's would fail simultaneously so likely a wire is damaged or connection loose.

Thanks for the response, but it is only one side that has failed, and on closer inspection it looks as though water/moisture has somehow got into that side of the light cluster. It has also discoloured that part of it.
Now a simple job of changing the light unit, becomes a full rear bumper off
